Jason Smith is currently the Integrated Facility Management (IFM) lead for North America. He is responsible for directing the facility management vendor, including monitoring performance, identifying innovation ideas in facility management, and standardizing best practices across all Abbott sites. Since joining Abbott in 2011, Jason has held multiple roles. Previously, he managed North America engineering for Abbott Nutrition, a team of technical engineers deployed to support manufacturing. Smith was also project manager for the Tipp City greenfield manufacturing site. There, he worked with engineering and operations teams to construct Tipp City’s Line 2 and the associated facility.
Prior to joining Abbott, Smith was engineering manager at a large mechanical contracting company. He led and transformed the engineering department from a basic organization to one of the industry’s leading technical teams by implementing 3D modeling which enabled prefabrication of piping systems. Previously, Smith was a partner at a small project management firm where he managed a variety of projects and engineering design for CPG companies.
Smith received his MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer, and holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
For almost two decades, Jason Smith worked as a leader, project manager and engineer. Jason lives in the Chicago area with his wife and three daughters. He stays busy with outdoor family activities and photography where he is able to combine his two passions – science and creativity.
